Delegated Authority

Okay, so now I’m stealing information from Adam’s blog.  But its a question that definitely provoked a lot of thought.  It goes something like this;  If you were told you had to kill 1person to save 10, would you?  You have no background information, no history, no other information, they’re not related, etc.  Just that simple question.  I replied I would rather someone kill me, than me kill- since I could never live with the thought that I killed someone for the rest of my life.  Dennis pointed out that everyone has a price, and if the stakes were high enough, everyone would have a point where they would kill.  At that point I decided, yes, I would, too.  If someone threatened my kids with deadly harm, I would certainly kill them before they could kill any of my kids….without hesitation.  However, that, as I said, was apparently not part of the original situation/question.  So, given the original question, what would YOU do?  Now I’m really curious.  Check out Adam’s responses at … www.tuttletree.com and leave me a comment and tell me what you think.

Let me tell you something… there IS such a thing as being too cautious, too helpful, and yes, too politically correct.

I heard on WTOP (a local talk radio station I listen to at work) the other day that a school board in a suburb of Boston has made it illegal, or against the rules, or whatever, to play TAG or any other running games, like soccer, flag football, etc. at RECESS.  Their reasoning?  Someone might fall down and get hurt.  Well, DUH.  What’s next.  Living in bubbles?  Isn’t playing tag a right and ritual of growing up?  What kid goes through life and has not played tag?  What kid would WANT to go through life not having played tag?

Its time to get REAL people.  GEEZ.

Wow!  Isn’t this the neatest thing!  Ask and you shall receive!  I mentioned to Adam that I was getting “into” this whole blogging thing that he was doing, and wanted to try it myself, and POOF! I have my very own blog!  Cool!  You like the name?  Adam is pretty darn clever!  I asked him to name the site, he said it was my job, and I said I was doing my job, by delegating the authority to him! HA!  What a clever kid!

In all honesty, Dennis has been trying to get me to do this for a long time, but I guess I was never “ready”.  I can’t say why all of the sudden I feel like doing this- its not like I suddenly have so much extra time in my life… but hey- it does sound like fun!
