The light blue “button” on the right? Its an advertisement for one of my all time favorite websites, Paperbackswap.com. If you like to read, you need to visit that website.ÂÂ
Personally, I LOVE to read. Until I started back to school, I read on the average, I guess, about a novel a week. Not those trashy Harlequin Romances either (tho, to each his/her own). Nope, I love murder mysteries, thrillers, and yes, a tear jerker here and there. John Grisham, John Lescroart, James Patterson, J.A. Jance, Lisa Scottoline, Patricia Cornwell. . . the list is long!
These days, because of having 10+ hours of required reading (i.e. homework), my recreational reading is being shortchanged, but I try to fit in as much as possible. I would guess a novel every 2-3 weeks is about normal these days. Its frustrating sometimes, to know I’m still on the same book I was on last week, but I’m going as fast as I can!
I digress.
Paperbackswap.com has allowed me to read, read, and read some more, at very little cost. See, I listed a bunch of books (not just paperbacks as the name implies) on their website. When someone requests one of my books, I send it to them. I pay the postage (roughly $2.13). They pay nothing. However, I get a “credit” for every single book I send out. With every credit I have, I can request a book from another member. (It does NOT have to be the same member that requested from me.) When I request a book, I pay nothing. The person with the book pays to ship it to me. That basically equals free. I pay to send out, they pay to send to me = FREE! It just doesn’t get much better than that!
End result? All those books I’ve had for years cluttering up my shelves and collecting dust are now providing me endless reading material! Not to mention, when I finish reading the new books, if I dont pass them around, I relist them on paperbackswap.com, which gives me more credits to get more books!ÂÂ
 See! Its a Wonderful thing!
