Delegated Authority

Today I met Janis and Warren at the new Washington Nationals stadium in Washington DC for the Nats v. O’s game, the 3rd game of the Beltway trilogy. . . which was standing at 1-1; the “rubber game” of the match, if you will!

 

 

The weather cooperated, it was a wonderful, hot, sunny day.  The new stadium is gorgeous, and I can’t say enough about the company I hung out with for the day!

It came down to the bottom of the 12th, with the O’s up, 2-1; the Nats had a runner on 1st, 2 outs and 2 strikes on the batter. . . and don’t ya know, with only one stinkin’ pitch to go, and Belliard hit a walk off, and the game was over, with the Nat’s winning, 3-2.

So, the O’s didn’t win today, but, I had a terrific day hanging out with Jan & Warren, and just enjoying America’s favorite pastime

I cannot believe that Jared, my baby, is 19!  At 4:19 am on June 24,1989 this little guy with the brightest blue eyes I’ve ever seen, entered our lives.

Time sure has flown! It just amazes me to realize what this kid has been through - yet look at him. . . all grown up!

We are this >< close to being done with our new bathroom!  YAY!

The tile just needs to be cleaned up and the crown moulding hung.  We're waiting on the crown moulding until the bedroom is done.  The bedroom is painted and we just need to finish painting the crown moulding.

The fact of the matter is, we're just plain pooped.  Dennis and I worked SO hard this past weekend . . . I think we had actually thought that if we worked really hard on Saturday, we would be able to take off and enjoy the day on Sunday.  LOL.  Right.  We put in about 15 hours on Saturday, in the heat. . . with the AC off, mind you, since we were painting and wanted to be sure to vent everything well!  We still ended up putting in about 10 hours on Sunday!  You know what?  We still have moulding to paint.  ‘Course, because of the heat and long hours on Saturday, us old folks moved a little slower on Sunday!!  Ugh.  Once we get the rest of the crown moulding painted, we can call Bill the Builder and he will take care of all the final details and we will be d.o.n.e. finally.

For a few years, the toes on my right foot have been slowly going numb.  It started, maybe in 2003?  2004?  When I would walk a lot. . .  I would notice that the ball of my foot would hurt, and if I walked enough, the middle toes would go numb.  But it was kind of intermittent, and I didnt really give it much thought.  Well, it has progressed.

Now, if I even stand on my foot, the toes go numb and the ball of my foot hurts!  I’ve gone to those fancy shoe stores where they have “fitting specialists” and been told I was wearing shoes too small (can you imagine wearing shoes a size and a half bigger than your foot measures)?  That’s what they told me to do!  It worked for sneakers. . .  but the numbness still came and went.  Tho those $125 sneakers were sure comfy!  But that idea is kind of ridiculous for womens dressy shoes-since they don’t tie. . they just fall right off my feet if they don’t *fit*!

So, anyway.  I made myself an appointment with a podiatrist.  From the info I could find on this guy, he’s a darn good one, too!  He did the x-rays and said “structurally” my feet seem fine, but it appears that I have something called a “Morton’s Neuroma”.  Essentially, the nerve[s] between the ball of my foot and my toes are pissed off and swollen.  That makes my toes go numb when I walk.  So now I have this gorgeous padding glued to my foot for a week:

 

 (The area between the padding is where the neuroma is)  And the theory goes like this.  If the padding helps, its definitely the neuroma.  If it doesn’t then we move on to other theories.  My toes have not gone numb at all since I’ve had the extra padding. . .  but the ball of my foot hurts more.  I dont know if that is because of the change in padding or if the padding didn’t fix half of the problem.  I guess I’ll find out as the week goes on and/or on Friday when I see the doc again.
